Behind the deal: Our investment in ShopVision

Posted by Brightspark on Dec 12, 2025

We are pleased to share our investment in ShopVision, an AI-powered competitive intelligence platform built for modern eCommerce teams. The platform aggregates data from over 100,000 global online retailers—spanning websites, emails, and social media—and refreshes this dataset daily. Its AI “Super Agent” automates repetitive tasks like campaign tracking, product launches, and merchandizing analysis, delivering real-time intelligence via Slack, Teams, and a centralized dashboard.

This investment aligns with Brightspark’s focus on supporting founding teams who deeply understand the problems they are addressing. ShopVision’s team brings deep, first-hand experience from across the eCommerce ecosystem and a clear vision for how intelligence should work in today’s retail environment.

The Story So Far

Merchandising and marketing teams have long relied on manual research and fragmented tools to understand their competitive landscape. The pace of eCommerce has only accelerated, yet intelligent workflows have largely stayed the same, resulting in billions of dollars in wasted ad spend tied to misaligned campaigns and slow reaction cycles.

ShopVision was created based on the founders’ own experiences building and operating in commerce. The Company is led by an exceptionally experienced team: Harry Chemko, (co-founder and CEO of Elastic Path) and is joined by Peter Sheldon (VP Strategy at Magento, Adobe and Elastic Path) and Jeff Neil (former CTO at eComm brand Vivrelle). They have deep experience with the pain points shared a common observation: competitive intelligence had become too scattered, too slow, and too difficult to operationalize.

These experiences ultimately led the founders to build ShopVision. The platform now combines large-scale market data, historical context, and real-time AI-powered analysis to give eCommerce operators a continuous, accurate, and automated view of their competitive landscape.

Our Thesis

We believe eCommerce is entering a period where real-time, AI-driven intelligence will be a fundamental requirement rather than a differentiator. ShopVision is building the infrastructure that enables this shift by integrating large-scale market data with a brand’s own first-party information to support faster, more coordinated decision-making across merchandising and marketing.

Our conviction stems from the founding team’s deep experience across the ecosystem. Their combination of operator, strategist, and technologist experience gives them an uncommon understanding of how merchandising and marketing teams actually work and where intelligence can meaningfully improve outcomes.

ShopVision is well positioned to become an essential enabler of future progress for eCommerce teams, helping them plan, react, and compete with greater speed and confidence.

The investment

We are proud to support ShopVision as they accelerate product development, expand go-to-market efforts, and continue building a category-defining intelligence platform for the next generation of eCommerce operators.
