Portfolio Highlights

Our first Startup Investor Workshop was a huge success!

Last week, Brightspark hosted a 2-day workshop in Toronto to share some knowledge with individual investors on how we invest in early-stage companies.

The event sold out, and hundreds of individual investors joined us to learn about startup investing!

In case you missed it, here are the slides from the event - a great reference if you want to brush up your skills:

Intermediate workshop:
The events were so successful that we will be hosting more workshops in Toronto and Montreal in the coming months. See you there!

What have we been up to?

Keeping BUSY!

We're seeing better dealflow than ever in Toronto and Montreal - and we're close to selecting Brightspark's next investments! We can't tell you any details yet, but stay tuned for amazing investment opportunities. We remain very excited by the quality of opportunities we are seeing. Our existing portfolio is also creating significant value and we will soon have more follow-on opportunities with existing investments.

The new Brightspark website

We are continuing to improve our new website thanks to the feedback we received from our network. Check out the new content, and please share your ideas with us on what else you'd like to see on!

Must Read Blog: Johnathan Nightingale, Hubba's CPO

When we read Johnathan Nightingale's latest blog post on company values in startups, we just knew we had to share it with our network. As Hubba's Chief Product Officer - and with former experience at Mozilla, Joist, Wattpad and IBM - he is a bright mind with an exceptional sense of what motivates and shapes a startup's workforce.

One of Brightspark's core values is that we always invest in people first, and Johnathan is a living, breathing example of that. We were the very first major investor in Hubba because we saw significant potential in the management team and their ability to take a great product to an unprecented level.
